Partner Permanent Visas
The Immigration Department first issues partner visas

A permanent visa is issued 2 years later, if the department
is convinced that the relationship is ongoing. Dependent children
of a partner seeking the visa can be included in the application.

has been in existence for at least 12 months prior to applying
for the visa.
Prospective Marriage
For persons intending to marry an Australian permanent resident
or citizen within 9 month after arrival in Australia.
Interdependency
For applicants who are in same sex relationships with Australian
permanent residents or citizens. A variety of evidence has
to be given that the relationship has been existing for at
least 12 months prior to the application for the visa.
